Middle east:
In the first quarter of 2014 kaspersky lab products neutralized more than 34.9 Million cyber-attacks and malware infections on computers and mobile devices of users in the middle east which is close to the number of incidents reported during the same period of 2013 (31.6Million).More than 7million of these were threats coming from the internet while the rest was for local threats.
Ksn statistics during q1 shows that:
√ Has the highest local threat level with 51.3% Of users in egypt facing local threats.
√ Iraq has the highest web threat level with 35% of iraq users facing threats while online.
√ The highest number of incidents was reported from saudi with a total of about 10 million incidents.
√ Lebanon has the lowest threat level in middle east.
√ The most popular malware during q1 was the dinihou worm with about 1 million infections. This worm spread through removable media devices making use of .Lnk files.
√ The most exploited vulnerabilities during q1 were media player classic vulnerabilities.
Turkey:
In the first quarter of 2014 kaspersky lab products neutralized more than 15 million of cyber-attacks and a malware infection on computers and mobile devices of users in turkey which is 50% more than what was reported on the same quarter in 2013. 8,707,000 Of these incidents are internet-borne malware incidents.
Overall, 31.4% Of users in turkey were attacked by web- borne threats during this period.
This places turkey in the 17th place worldwide when it comes to the dangers associated with surfing the web, this is very close to countries like germany were 30.0% Of users were affected by web threats. Also, 44.9% Of users in turkey were attacked by local threats during this period which is very high compared to germany were only 25.2% Of the users faced local threats. This puts turkey in the 25th place worldwide.
When a kaspersky lab customer is attacked by an online threat, we record the source of this threat – the location of the malicious objects that tried to infect the system. Based on that data, the share of malicious incidents caused by malware hosted in turkey was 0.81% – That is 2,887,752 incidents in the period january-march 2014 and this puts turkey in 12th place worldwide and the first in middle east. But the number of malicious host in turkey is low compared to germany which recorded 37,503,721 incidents in the period january-march 2014.
The most exploited vulnerabilities in turkey during q1 2014 were vulnerabilities in oracle java and media classic player vulnerabilities.
Africa:
During the first quarter of 2014 kaspersky lab products neutralized more than 49 million of cyber-attacks and malware infections on computers and mobile devices of users in africa which is slightly lower than the number of incidents reported during the same period in 2013 (52.4Million).The biggest share of these incidents is for threats coming from local networks and removable media (removable usb drives, cds and dvd)

√ Algeria has the highest threat level both locally and on the internet with more than 54% of algerian users facing local threats and 31.6% Facing threats from the web.
√ South africa has the lowest local threat level .While nigeria has the lowest online threat level.
√ Like middle east the most popular malware during q1 was the dinihou worm with more than 3 million infection attempts.
√ The top exploited vulnerabilities in africa are vlc media player vulnerabilities
